I am a senior software engineer and full-stack web developer with over twenty years of professional experience. Most of that has been in PHP frameworks and content management systems — Drupal and WordPress — alongside Python, Node and Go. I have built on AWS serverless and integrated more third-party services than I can name. The industries have ranged widely: K–12 education, higher education, curriculum management, professional development, learning management systems, electronics, semiconductors, entertainment news and nonprofits.

My most recent responsibility has been company-wide training on the safe use of AI agents. I was tasked with rewriting our development strategy to adopt AI into the regular development process. That means educating skeptics on where AI genuinely helps and how to use it well, and it means internal training on token management and on the processes that hold quality and velocity in balance. Both halves matter. A team that refuses the tool falls behind, and a team that adopts it without a floor ships faster than it can review.

For the past ten years I have been the person responsible for updating and codifying engineering process. We moved from trunk-based development in SVN to a semantically versioned git workflow. We replaced bespoke local development setups with repeatable Docker-based environments. We took the error-prone, hand-typed CLI commands that every repeated task depended on and put them in a Makefile per project. And we moved off manual deployments onto something repeatable. None of these were technology decisions on their own; each one removed a way for a release to depend on one person remembering something.

I build up teams that build products. I have overseen the entire lifecycle from inspiration to creation, creation to replacement or retirement, and retirement to redirection. I am looking for the opportunity to lead a team that is working on products. I am not looking for another quick-turnaround, out-the-door, never-to-be-seen-again project.
